Agate Cove Inn is seeking an experienced full time, live in Innkeeper with the knowledge, leadership & professional experience to deliver 5-star service. Innkeepers for Delaware B&B, We are looking for a couple (or well-qualified single person) to manage a bed and breakfast inn located in Milford, Delaware. (Details on the B&B can be found on our website www.mispillion.com. We have been closed since Jan. 2016 in order to do major renovations of the building.)
The B&B is a beautiful Victorian located not far from the Atlantic beach communities of lower Delaware. The B&B provides accommodations for up to six couples at a time. You will be assisted by an experienced couple, the owners of the B&B, who live next door. This provides flexibility for both couples to pursue other activities and jobs.
Guests (adults only) are primarily high end so innkeepers should be well educated and personable. This is a non-smoking B&B and pets are not allowed. (This applies to the innkeepers as well.)
We are seeking energetic, extroverted and friendly individuals with good customer relation skills. Prior inn-keeping experience is preferred, but not required. You will be responsible for the daily operations of the Inn and ensuring the highest quality experiences of its guests. Duties include: managing reservations (taking telephone and electronic reservations), greeting guests and checking them out, responding to guest requests, preparing and serving breakfasts (for up to twelve adults each morning), maintaining accounts, and assisting the owners with light housekeeping, laundry, cleaning, gardening and property maintenance. You will also be involved in marketing, thus experience in managing a website and the use of social media (Internet blogs, newsletters, Facebook) and other forms of marketing will be useful. You should be in good health as you will need to be able to assist guests with their luggage to and from their rooms and help to operate and maintain a three-story building.
While the position is year round, the business is seasonal, allowing for down time in the winter months. The B&B is busiest from April through October. You would be expected to work throughout this period, including weekends and holidays (when the most guests are expected). You could plan to take time away for vacation during the period from November through March.
As the resident innkeepers you would live on-site in a two-story wing of the building, with a bedroom, private bathroom and living room that adjoin the kitchen and dining room. (Approximately 1,300 SF of living space.) You would need to be available 24 hours a day to respond to guest requests for assistance.
A one-year employment contract will be offered with annual renewals based on performance. Basic compensation will be the provision of on-site housing with utilities and internet paid for by the owners. Additional cash compensation will be in the form of a revenue sharing agreement. The latter should result in a payment of approximately $4,000 to $8,000 per year – linked to B&B revenues – and is paid at the end of each contract year. This could be a good fit
for a couple with retirement income or where one of you has another job or is self-employed.

Also note when you would be available to take up residence in the B&B. (We are looking for you to start before April 1, 2018.) All prospective candidates must have a car, be in possession of a current Driver's License (valid in Delaware, until the end of 2019) and have a clear driving record. You should not have any alcohol or other substance abuse problems or a criminal history.
