Why Member-Get-A-Member Campaigns Work

A strong word-of-mouth marketing campaign is an important way to promote the continued growth of any organization. As an active member, you not only know the value that your ALP membership provides your company, but you are also in daily contact with a wealth of prospective members through your network of professional colleagues and industry contacts.

We are providing you with the resources that you need to reach out to prospective ALP members and also giving you an incentive for actively recruiting them. We need your help in growing ALP membership and strengthening its voice.

Recruitment Tips to Ensure Your Success

  • Identify the best prospects. Review your network of contacts and identify those who could benefit most from ALP membership. When networking and meeting new contacts, consider asking whether or not they are a member of the ALP. If not, utilize the tools above to tell them about ALP.
  • Know the benefits of membership. ALP provides a wealth of valuable resources to its members. The more familiar that you are with these benefits, the better equipped you will be to discuss them with prospective members. Try to recall why you first joined and how you have come to value new benefits as your company has grown.
  • Give examples. Provide prospects with examples of how your ALP membership has benefited you and your company. A positive testimonial can be one of the strongest tools when recruiting new members.
  • Focus on their needs. Each potential member has different needs regarding their business. Ask questions about their goals and what information they are looking for. Based on their answers, identify and highlight the benefits that will be of greatest value to them.
  • Close with a plan of action. After discussing the value of ALP membership and your experiences with the prospective member, provide them with a link to the membership application. Always refer them to the ALP website, www;alplodging.org so that they can browse the site and get more information following your conversation.
  • Follow-up. Check back in a few weeks to politely inquire about whether or not they’ve joined ALP and to ask if they have any additional questions. If they haven’t already joined, this follow-up can serve as a reminder for them to do so.
  • Thank them. Send them a short message or email, thanking them for considering ALP membership and supporting and strengthening the industry.

Dear ,

I would like to encourage you to join the Association of Lodging Professionals (ALP), an organization that unites the independent lodging community and helps them become highly successful by providing education, advocacy, networking, and professional development. We have started what we are calling March Membership Madness, the ALP’s Member-Get-A-Member campaign. Together, we are advancing the industry, educating our members, and strengthening our voice.

Your membership is important to me and other members because:

  • It reflects your commitment and professionalism to the industry you are a part of
  • It supports our ongoing and future events, initiatives, and programs
  • YOUR voice matters

We would love to welcome you to ALP during this exciting time.

Our education is expanding – In 2023, ALP began regular educational webinars – free for members – to further educate ALP members and give them the tools and know-how they need to succeed.

Our member exclusive programs are growing – ALP just recently launched a brand new mentorship program to help strengthen the future of our industry.

In addition, there are many more benefits to ALP membership and I encourage you to check them out.

We need your assistance to strengthen the ALP and increase its membership. Click here to join ALP – be sure to put my name and company in the “Membership Referral” box in the membership application!

Thank you and I look forward to welcoming you to ALP!

Sincerely,
