Mentorship programs facilitate the development of beneficial one-on-one relationships between seasoned industry veteran members and members new to the industry. Mentors have the opportunity to advise, encourage, and support their mentees by sharing their own experiences, knowledge, and expertise. The ALP Mentorship Program is open to ALP members only.

Goals of the Mentor Program:

• Assist members who are new to the industry with personal development, business development, and a general understanding of the business/industry
• Allow mentors to give back to the industry and grow personally
• Encourage mentees to realize their full potential

Requirements for Participation:

Mentee:

• Must be an active ALP member
• Must be in business for no more than five years
• Must complete a mentee application

Mentor:

• Must be an active ALP member
• Must be in the industry for at least five years
• Must complete mentor application

Guidelines for Participants:

• Mentor must make initial contact with mentee within one week of assignment.
• Introduce yourself
• Discuss how you got into the industry
• Discuss expectations of the mentor/mentee program
• Discuss scheduling of future calls

• Mentors/mentees must communicate at a frequency agreed upon by both parties. Recommended frequency is at least once every two weeks.

Term of Mentorship:

While we hope that many mentors/mentees will form lasting professional relationships, the mentoring commitment can be understood to consist of a few phone calls or emails to answer questions, a face-to-face meeting if possible, and invitations and introductions at trade shows. The duration and scope of the communication and pairing are ultimately dependent on the needs and goals of the mentor/mentee.

Mentor/Mentee Assignments:

Applications will be reviewed and mentors and mentees will be paired up based on skills, property size/type, and geography.
